Age-gated lead generation inside a contextual quiz

No reader sees an IQOS question, an IQOS logo, or any IQOS branding until they have passed a human check and self-declared 18+. Under-18 readers are never shown brand content at all — they simply carry on with the ordinary article quiz and never know a brand was in the unit.

MMDA suspends number coding scheme on Friday

By Inquirer News · Metro Manila

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the suspension of the number coding scheme on Friday due to continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon.

Motorists were advised to take precautions on flooded roads, while the agency reminded the public to monitor official advisories for further updates through the day.

Article text abbreviated for the mock-up. In production the quiz is generated automatically from the full published article — no editorial effort required.

3  Why this satisfies a tobacco advertiser

The points IQOS compliance will ask about, and how the unit answers each.

RequirementHow the unit handles it
No exposure to minors Brand creative, brand name and brand questions are only requested from the server after a positive 18+ declaration. A reader who answers "No" never triggers the call, so there is nothing to render and nothing logged against them.
Bot and scraper filtering The age gate sits behind two contextual questions. Automated traffic almost never reaches it, so declarations come from readers who have demonstrably engaged with the article.
No incentive to lie about age The gate is worded neutrally and shows no reward, no brand and no hint of what follows. A reader has no reason to over-declare because they cannot see what they would gain.
Consent for data capture The lead form carries an explicit, unticked consent checkbox naming IQOS Philippines as the recipient, with a link to Inquirer.net's privacy policy. No pre-ticked boxes.
Auditability Every step is timestamped — article URL, question sequence, age declaration, consent, submission. Exportable per campaign for the advertiser's compliance file.
Not a programmatic ad No ad unit, no creative served through an exchange, no ads.txt line, no prebid or OpenRTB call. This runs inside the Quizzly widget as first-party content, so it sits outside Inquirer.net's existing ad arrangements entirely.
